Hannah is 1

Hannah turned 1 on Wednesday, July 28th. We tried to make it a fun day for her and she seemed to love it! We started the day by going into her bedroom and singing the happy birthday song to her and we took in some balloons with us. We were afraid it might scare her a little since it was first thing in the morning but she loved it and had the biggest smile the whole time. She was so excited for the balloons and loved playing with them.

For a long time she wouldn't keep her eyes off of the balloons:

We decided that we wanted her to open one of her presents in the morning. Here she is working on opening her first present:

After she played with her new toy for awhile she decided to go take most of the books off of one of our bookshelves:

The books entertained her for awhile and then it was time for the fuzzy game. To play the fuzzy game we put Hannah in her crib and then we place a little purple fuzzy somewhere on the edge of the crib and she walks around to get it:

Next she spent some time playing with her daddy's cell phone and playing cards:
I went to the Salt Lake temple that afternoon because my oldest niece, Courtnee, was receiving her endowments. Brian and Hannah spent that time together and they had lots of fun!

That evening we had a birthday party for Hannah at Grandma & Grandpa Price's house. We were planning to do it at Murray park but it was 90 degrees and there was a chance of thunderstorms so we decided to do it inside so that the cupcakes and everyone else wouldn't melt and/or get wet.

Hannah got some great presents. She wasn't real good at opening them and needed some help from mommy:

This is the cake that we got for free from Macey's (they give babies a free cake for their first birthday):

We debated whether or not to give her the bigger Macey's cake or a smaller cake that we made for her. We ended up doing the smaller chocolate cake with pink frosting:

She liked playing in the frosting and licking it off of her fingers:

As soon as she tried the cake part she decided that she didn't like it anymore and she started gagging. We wanted her to dig in and make a big mess but that didn't happen. We probably should have given her the other cake--she might have liked it better.

We gave her a piece of the other cake but by then she didn't want more cake. Grandpa Turner gave her a Dum Dum sucker and she was a little happier but you can't really tell from this picture:
