Trip to Utah

We were able to spend a few weeks in Utah at the end of June and the beginning of July. It was so fun to spend time with our family and friends and we did a lot of fun things while we were there. Here are some of the highlights:

HEBER VALLEY CAMP
We went camping with the Turner family at the Heber Valley camp which is a very nice place to camp. We slept in cabins, had a nice pavilion to cook and eat meals, a great campfire area, and beautiful scenery.  Brian was flying back from a conference in Colorado Springs the first day we were camping so he missed some of the fun.

We went to the challenge course right after we arrived there. They had us do some team building activities and they related what we were doing to gospel principles. Everyone's favorite part is the zip line. I wasn't able to do it this year because I was 7 months pregnant but it was fun to watch everyone else. The next morning we were able to spend about an hour at the lake canoeing. Hannah was so excited to go in a "boat." Here are Brian and Hannah all ready to go:

Hannah enjoyed the beginning of the ride but after awhile she wanted to sit down by Brian and before we knew it she had fallen asleep. You can't tell because of the sunglasses but her eyes are closed. The life jacket cushioned her head enough to make a good pillow:

Later that day we had a "Minute to Win It" activity that Joe and Lori planned. It was a lot of fun for everyone! Brian and Hannah took a nap and missed out on most of it. Brian joined in at the end but Hannah continued to take a long nap. She was so tired!!! Below are descriptions of the activities and pictures of some of us participating in them

Back Flip - In increments of 2, place pencils on the back of hand and then flip them off and catch all of them ending with 12:

Nose Dive - player must transfer cotton balls, 1 at a time from 1 serving bowl to another using only petroleum jelly on the nose:

Breakfast Scramble - assemble the front of a cereal box that has been cut into 16 even pieces:

By a Thread - use 1 hand to run a piece of thread through the eye of 10 needles:

Brush with Danger - contestants must slide a toothbrush down a strip of dental floss and land it into a toothbrush holder:

Defying Gravitiy - tap 2 balloons to keep them off the ground for a minute:

Elephant March - knock over bottles with a baseball hanging from panty hose worn on the head:

 Face the Cookie - using only the face, move cookies from the forehead to the mouth:

Hangnails - hang 6 nails concurrently on a taught string:

Shoe Fly shoe - Toss shoe onto a table using only a foot:

BOWLING
The Turner family decided to go bowling in Grantsville for a Monday night FHE activity. It was Hannah's first time trying to bowl and at first she thought it was fun to push the ball and watch it go down the lane but she lost interest pretty quick and spent most of the rest of the time running around the bowling alley with Brian or I chasing after her.

She also enjoyed some french fries and fry sauce:

SWIMMING
Brian and I decided to take Hannah swimming at the Magna pool. She mostly wanted to run around outside of the pool but she did have some fun in the pool and at the end she really loved putting her face in the water.

HOGLE ZOO
We went with the Price family to Hogle Zoo and had lots of fun! It was fun to see the animals and mostly fun to watch Hannah see the animals.

4TH OF JULY
We spent Independence Day with the Turner family doing most of the traditional things. It started with us breaking tradition and going to the Grantsville parade instead of the Magna parade.

After the parade we went and checked out the carnival they were having nearby. Hannah wanted to go on this swing ride and she loved it:

When we were done in Grantsville we headed to Magna. We hung out at my parents house while Hannah had a nap and then we headed to the church pavilion for the traditional BBQ. It was fun to see some extended family members! We played a game of Bocce with Brian and I on a team and we won. The children did some fireworks.

MURDER MYSTERY PARTY
We had a fun murder mystery dinner with the Price family while we were there. Brian's mom did a great job hosting the party and had lots of yummy snacks and food for us. Everyone wore costumes which made it more entertaining.

RANDOM STUFF

 JELLY BELLY FACTORY
We stopped at the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield, CA on our way back to San Jose. I had been there with my sisters family about 6 years ago and thought it would be fun for Brian and Hannah to see. We went on the tour, got free Jelly Belly's, and made sure we bought some Belly Flops and other yummy treats. We had a lot of fun there!
